The Local Authorities Delivery (LAD3 funding) scheme aims to raise the energy efficiency of low-income and energy inefficient homes (those in bands E, F and G). This also includes those living in the most inefficient off-gas grid homes. The scheme aims to progress towards ending fuel poverty and phasing out high carbon fossil fuel heating. This is designed to support the UK’s commitment to being net zero by 2050. The local authorities carry out the scheme and use money from the UK government to give out to the households that need it most within the community.
Households with the following circumstances are eligible for the scheme:
- Combined household income of £31,000 or less
- The home must be currently rated as EPC E, F or G
There will be a 100% subsidy for owners or occupiers up to £10,000, and a two-thirds subsidy for social and private landlords up to £5,000.
Included in the retrofit schemes
Local councils apply for funding to fit new, more energy-efficient fittings into homes. The following measures are offered:
- Insulation such as solid wall, cavity wall, underfloor, loft, room-in-roof, flat roof, park home
- Low carbon heat – air source heat pump, ground source heat pump, solar thermal water heating.
The scheme is for both homeowners and private renters.
What is LAD phase 3?
The LAD3 funding has evolved throughout three phases and we are currently in the third. Phase 3 involved the government making £200m available for new projects. If you are a homeowner in a low-income household, then it is wise to apply for the free home upgrade with LAD phase 3. These kinds of upgrades are going to make your home more energy efficient, and cut your energy bills significantly. When you better insulate your home and install an energy-efficient heat source like an air source heat pump, you will find that you are paying less for your energy almost instantly.
How can I claim a grant for insulating my home?
They is a form on the Free Heating Scheme and you will be able to check if you are eligible for the grant https://freeheatingscheme.org/
As a permanent Tenant can I apply for these free grants?. And how long is the process. From start to finish?.
Is their any support for solar panels only, we’ve already put in a ground source heat pump, and would like to now put solar panels, but I no longer work as such, hubby on his pension,
As for now, the ECO4 grant requires you to get the whole package. But they are plans for the future to just get support for solar panels only. Follow https://www.facebook.com/freeheatingscheme to get updated on the latest grants available including the only solar panel grants.
